It boasts a lake and an abundance of trees and open spaces. Student dormitories are situated among forests of evergreens, lichee trees, and other plants that create a comfortable and relaxing natural environment and a great escape from the pressures of academics. SZU is also a digital campus that gives students full internet access in their dorm rooms. Sports facilities include several state-of-the-art gym facilities, multiple tennis courts, a large stadium with track and field facilities, outdoor basketball courts, two outdoor pool facilities and many other exercise areas.

Shenzhen University ImageShenzhen University began to enroll international students in 1989. In the ensuing years, over 10,000 students from 66 countries have attended SZU to study Chinese language and culture. Currently, nearly a thousand international students are admitted annually at SZU as full-time or part-time students. Hawaii Tokai International College students who participate in the "Discover China" program will thus have ample opportunity to form friendships, not only with Chinese, but also with individuals from diverse parts of the world. The SZU learning environment therefore reinforces and facilitates HTIC's emphasis on cross-cultural awareness and global citizenship.
